Weekend Friday July 19 to Sunday July 21, 2019

Friday July 19, 2019 started as a warm summer day around 5:30 am for me. I got up, went to the YMCA in Easton to work out for about 45 minutes. The work out consisted of walking at a fast pace on the treadmill for 20 minutes, the stair master for 10 minutes and the last thing I did was a 15 minute floor work out.

The time neared 7o’clock and it was almost time to go. I had to drive an hour to work and I wanted to shower at the gym closer to my work. My reasoning was that the showers at the gym closest to my house weren’t the best. The first time I used them it took forever to get the hot water to warm up, plus the stalls were too small. At least the gym near my office had two sectioned stalls and the water heated up instantaneously. Even better, the showers were in much better conditions.

I guess your question would be why don’t I just go there first? My answer. Well its because I like rolling out of bed, driving ten minutes, and getting a good work out in before I have to go drive an hour. The drive after the physical exersion that early in the morning is also very relaxing. I get to drive through back roads, and there are a ton of beautiful views such as farm land or beautiful houses. And I always stop at Dunkins to grab a large iced coffee with cream and four splenda.

To make a long story short I spent my weekend with Mike Murphy. We went from almost the cape, Wareham, all the way north to New Hampshire.

In wareham we spent time with my friend Sarah and her Boyfriend Colin. Sarah’s four legged son came along with us, his name is Max.

The original plan was to get dinner at Turks and then hangout for awhile. Mike and I would go home when it got late.

But Sarah always finds a way to get us to stay. The Way was, a swimming hole in the cranberry bogs.

We weren’t there very long, a fisher cat was screaming in the distance and there was thunder. We all beat feet and walked the half mile back to the car.

The one hour adventure got us back at Sarah’s house exhausted, Mike had been drinking and we figured it was best to stay overnight.

Cards Against Humanity was played for a whole 10 minutes before the four legged child got sick. Later to find out he has what they call Swimmer’s Tail. The poor thing was so tired and could barely lift his tail from between his legs. And he wanted to play but couldn’t jump up or run.

The next day Sarah brought her child to the vets, and pain meds were prescribed.

Mike and I went to Toby Hospital to see my great Aunt Nelda who was staying in the ICU. She was sedated and very confused when we went.

I had never seen my aunt like that, old and frail. Even though she hadn’t been awake she was still fighting where she was. The ICU nurse had to keep coming into the room to stop her from pulling off her EKG wires, the needle from her arm, and prevent her from getting out of bed. Even though she is almost 90 years old and sick she is still pretty strongwilled. Eventually they had to put these mits on that she kept taking off. Let me just point out to you this almost 90 year old women who is sedated manged to keep getting these very secure mits off herself. They were velcro, padded, and had chambers so she couldn’t get her fingers out. But my strongwilled great aunt did, while sedated.

Part of me was a little proud of her, she has never stopped fighting and I believe she never will.

That night, Saturday July 20, 2019, Mike and I drove to New Hampshire to my friend Kim’s new house that she bought with her Fiance in December 2019. We stayed the night, and then went to Horse Shoe Falls and the Mason Quarries in New Hampshire. We spent the day in the water, and it was amazing. This trip had been planned over a month ago and it just so happened to fall on the hottest weekend of the summer. It was lucky since, my iphone had been saying it was supposed to rain and thunder all Sunday.

The day was gorgeous, I saw my friend who I have to schedule months in advance becasue we both have hectic schedules, and it was a crazy adventure filled day.

That night after the hour and a half or so car ride to south boston, ended with me passed out on the couch and Mike going next door to his neighbor’s house that just so happened to be hosting a cast party. It was around 7 pm when we got back and I slept the whole night through.
